Content Alignment

Check a draft against a target keyword and review proposed revisions.

Open Content Alignment

Content Alignment, the PirateSERP semantic-alignment checker, scores how closely each section, paragraph, and sentence of a page matches a target keyword. Analysis requires a Google Gemini API key saved in Account Settings. Improve Alignment, the rewrite step, also requires an OpenRouter API key.

Analyze content

  1. Select the project.
  2. Choose a source tab:
    • Paste content: paste the page's HTML or plain text.
    • From a URL: enter a public page URL.
    • Saved article: choose a saved Content Editor draft.
  3. Enter Target keyword, for example "water heater repair."
  4. Enter Primary entity (optional) when the page centers on a named brand, product, or organization, for example "Rheem."
  5. Review Language. The project's default language is selected when you open the tool.
  6. Click Analyze. To stop the analysis, click Cancel; a canceled analysis is not saved.

The report keeps introduction text that appears before the first heading, including inside pasted HTML, and lists it under Main Content.

In Content Editor, click Check Semantic Alignment to save the draft and open it here with Saved article selected.

Read the report

The report header reads Alignment for followed by the target keyword and the page's H1. Six score tiles follow:

ScoreWhat it measures
Target Keyword FocusThe average match between every sentence and the target keyword.
Sentence FlowHow well the text in each section stays on that section's topic. A heading with no text after it does not lower this score.
Paragraph FlowHow smoothly each paragraph follows the one before it.
Section FlowHow smoothly each section follows the one before it.
H1 AlignmentHow well the page's H1 matches the target keyword.
Weak ContentThe share of sentences that are weakly aligned. A lower value is better.

Tiles and badges are colored as strong, moderate, or weak alignment. The line after the tiles counts the weakly aligned sentences, for example "3 of 42 sentences are weakly aligned (below 40%)." That count uses the same line as the weak badges.

Open the Detailed tab to expand each section and paragraph. Sentence rows carry four badges: KW (keyword), H1, Heading, and Para (paragraph). Section and paragraph rows carry Keyword and Coherence badges. Open the Outline tab for a heading-level summary with the first words of each paragraph.

Read flagged text in context. A necessary qualification or supporting example can score lower and still belong on the page. These scores do not measure factual accuracy or predict search rankings.

Review a rewrite

Improve Alignment proposes a rewrite of the analyzed content that stays closer to the target keyword.

  1. Choose a model in Model, or keep Account default model.
  2. Click Improve Alignment.
  3. To stop the rewrite, click Cancel. Otherwise, read the result in Rewritten content, then click Copy to copy its HTML.

Without an OpenRouter key, the panel reads Add your OpenRouter API key in Account Settings to run a rewrite. The rewrite aims to name the entities in your content and state their attributes. Check that the rewrite keeps your facts, meaning, and required details before you paste it into your editor. Content Alignment does not publish content.

Find saved analyses

Each completed analysis saves to Past analyses in the active project. Each entry shows the page title or keyword, a keyword badge, and the analysis date.

  • Click an entry to reopen its report. Clicking the entry that is already open keeps the report as it is.
  • Click the delete icon on an entry to remove it.

Analyses belong to one project, so switch projects in the header to find analyses saved elsewhere. If analysis completes but saving fails, the message Analysis complete, but not saved appears and the report stays visible in the current view, but the analysis does not appear in Past analyses.

Troubleshoot analysis

If analysis fails, confirm that your Google Gemini key is saved in Account Settings. An OpenRouter key alone cannot run the analysis. Read API keys for key setup and Languages for language support.

For vocabulary range instead of topical focus, use Lexical Diversity. For entity coverage and structure, use Entity SEO Auditor.
