Internal Linking

Review suggested internal links from a completed site audit.

Open Internal Linking

Internal Linking, the PirateSERP link-suggestion tool, lists topically related pages on your site that do not link to each other yet. Each suggestion comes from a completed Site Auditor run in the active project. Internal Linking needs no additional API key.

Review suggestions

  1. Select the project that contains your site audit.
  2. Open Internal Linking.
  3. Choose a completed run from the run list. Each entry shows the start URL, the audit date, and the number of pages scanned. The most recent run opens by default.
  4. Review each suggestion in Internal Link Suggestions: the source page, the destination page, a similarity percentage, and the Shared topics both pages cover.
  5. Click Download CSV to export the suggestions with their From, To, Similarity, and Shared topics columns.

Each row is one link direction. Add the link on the source page, pointing to the destination page, only where the link helps the reader. The similarity percentage measures topical overlap between the two pages; it does not measure how useful the link is.

Open the source page in your website editor. Write anchor text that names the destination page's subject and fits the surrounding sentence.

Publish the change, then run another audit in Site Auditor to confirm the added links. PirateSERP does not insert links into your website.

When the list is empty

A project without a completed audit shows No Site Audit runs in this project yet and a Go to Site Auditor button. Audit runs belong to one project, so switch projects in the header to reach audits saved elsewhere.

A completed run can return No suggestions for this run. Internal Linking suggests a pair only when two pages are closely related but not identical, and neither page links to the other. A well-linked site, or a site whose pages cover distinct topics, can return no suggestions. Click Re-crawl in Site Auditor after you change the site.

If loading fails, click Retry runs or Retry suggestions, matching the reported error.

Record review decisions

Site Auditor and Entity Graph Viewer both show the same suggestions under Saved audit exploration, in the Link review tab.

  1. Open the audit in Site Auditor, or choose Site Auditor as the source in Entity Graph Viewer.
  2. In Saved audit exploration, click Link review.
  3. Click Shortlist, Dismiss, or Reset for each suggestion.
  4. Click Export link review CSV to export the suggestions with a Review column that records each decision.

Review decisions stay in your browser and do not install links on your website. To see which pages link to each other, open the audit's link graph in Entity Graph Viewer.
